Carrots contain a high amount of vitamin A, which supports vision, particularly in dim light. However, fat-soluble vitamin A—also called retinol—has several other essential functions: it strengthens the immune system, promotes healthy skin, and maintains the condition of mucous membranes in the body, such as those in the nose. Our bodies can transform beta-carotene into retinol, which is why colorful produce like spinach, carrots, red peppers, and mangoes are valuable sources of vitamin A. It’s also naturally present in foods like cheese, eggs, oily fish, and milk. An important note: the body only converts the required amount of vitamin A from beta-carotene, making beta-carotene, such as that included in MAXD, a safe way to obtain vitamin A.
